A new and assured take on the sun-dappled pop of their debut, the songs on Time Again pull off that all-too-rare feat of being immediately accessible, but still possessing hidden substance. Their distinctive slacker-jangle perfectly reflects the sub-tropical Queensland climate, bright and carefree and shimmering, quick to shrug off the occasional wistful and melancholy overtones. Owing a sonic debt not just to Queensland forebears like The Go-Betweens and The Apartments but also the next wave of Aussie bands who also mined that same fertile ground for inspiration like Dick Diver, Twerps and The Ocean Party.

Remember how Bill Murray woke up to I Got You Babe every day in Groundhog Day? If that song would have been Made Of Moods, he at the very least experienced three and a half perfect minutes each day. It’s one of those songs that I enjoy each and every second of, with it’s jangly guitars and hushed vocals that almost have a Beach Boys vibe, especially in the verse. Truly, it’s a song for the ages. But the best news about Still Life is that it offers eleven additional underground pop gems. Niek || Add To Wantlist
